Book Report

A literary analysis is specifically meant for discussing literary texts, such as novels, short stories, poems, and plays.

Character analysis requires meticulous analysis as the most crucial detail can be so subtle, or even unnoticeable. Moreover, fiction writers use characters in various ways. Some characters are allegorical figures for a particular person, while others are allegorical figures for entire peoples; similarly, characters have been used to make a commentary about an idea.

If you did not like the book, do not insult the author for writing it. It is not fair to attack someone’s person for a book they have poured their heart and soul into. In fact, even if the book is a propaganda that you believe is inherently wrong, attack only the ideas, not the author.

At some point in your academic life, you have been asked to write either a book report or a book review, and many times we interchange the two writing projects. Despite their seemingly similar purpose, there is a difference between the two.
