The military of World War 1 was consisted of many things and new inventions. Some of the things that we will be talking about is the use of airplanes, the invention of the tank, better & bigger guns, and the use of gas warfare. Some of the other stuff will talk about are the troops and how they were dressed, military operation, and the death tolls of World War 1.

The troops had to carry a lot of things. The most general was a rifle, gas mask, and a helmet. Each soldier had to carry 70 pounds of equipment into battle. The gas masks did not protect the soldier from mustard gas because that got on to the skin. We will show you what the uniforms of the military look like in powerpoint.

All European countries, except England, required compulsory military service for it's young men. In Germany, all able bodied men between the ages of 17 and 45, were liable for military service. German Army had four classifications of military service; Active, Reserve, and Landsturm. At the age of 17, a man might be called up to serve in the Landsturm. The LandStrum is a sort of National Guard for home defense. In peace, it was mandatory to serve in the Army upon a man's 20th birthday. A 2 year period of Active service then began, or 3 years in the cavalry and field artillery. After that time, a man would be liable to serve the next 4 to 5 years in the Reserve, usually a 2 week training period each year. Serving in the Reserve during peace time, was generally regarded as a vacation from home and work. After the age of 45, a man was then free from further military service

There were many military deaths in World War 1. There were a total of 12.9 million people of both allies and central power that died in the military in WW1. 34 million were wounded compared to the 12.9 million that died. 4.8 million civilians died from the causes of World War 1. So there's the death tolls of the military in World War 1, It was outrageous!
