Technology advancement is one of the most essential factors for teenagers in the western societies. However, under circumstances not all will be directly involve or share the knowledge of these latest inventions of technology. Due to the enormous development of technologies, this era can also be called the Age of Technology. With the purpose of surviving in the social, education and employment world, technology is becoming the most essential tools.
By means of social issues, since the last five years and onto the future, teenagers will most likely spend more of their time on the Internet or cellular phone, doing various tasks of socializing. Where there are interaction and communication with others around the world through chatting on the worldwide web, emailing and playing interactive games. Plus, there is already an initiation of digital camera for computer and perhaps telephone where one can talk and view at the same time of the person whom they are having a conversation with. Thus, these teens can all go e-shopping together with their friends, by all going to the same site, using microphones, speakers or headphones and digital camera recorder they can have a conversation just as they would when they go out together. All teenagers will go through a stage where they want to belong to a group, a club or circle of friends; they need to be updated about what the subject of the conversation. For example, a group of friends are talking about an event that happens on ICQ (an interactive program from the Net) and he or she does not know about, obviously he or she would feel left out. Then there is the aspect of meeting new people, which is one of the topics favoured by teenagers nowadays. With a few click of the mouse through surfing the Net, the chat rooms and the e-pal services etc. one can meet all sorts of people with the same interest, hobbies, gender, ethnic background and much more.
In addition to socializing, there is also the education factor in most teenagers life. The development of technologies are providing the students access to certain apparatus that would help expanding their knowledge of certain fields in which they are studying, such as the electronic microscopes in the biology lab, the scientific calculators in the math department, the weight training equipments in the gym et.c. Once again, computer is indispensable in this modern age. As a social butterfly or as a student one will need the computer to help his or herself to accomplish a certain goal. Students are using computers to do various tasks, from typing their assignment, researching on CD-Rom or Internet, to design programs or templates for a project. In the role of a student, having awareness and knowledge about technology can only be an asset for the future.
Finally, the employment aspects of teenagers life associated with technology. At this age, many teenagers are not directly involved with a job in which the knowledge of technology is a must. However, they are preparing for their choices of careers in the future, thus having some knowledge of technology or computer skill is essential. Whether applying for a cashier or a marketing assistant position, one still needs to have technical skills, such as knowing how to work a cash register or to use a computer, so a lack of knowledge in these matters would likely cost them a job. Computer is one of the most popular career field in the market, it can be incorporate with all other areas, such as science, engineering, history and last but not least, business. All types of employment will be related either directly or indirectly to the technology advancement. Thus as a teenager, when possible, obtaining the knowledge of technology is very important to acquire a job at present or in the future.
In conclusion, as these teenagers growing up, these technological innovations will also advance further to help ease their lives. Either socially, educationally, or employment, technology will help them to accomplish their objectives. Though these technologies, for instance computer or mobile phone, will assist with the communications and networking between friends, between students and teachers, and between employees and employers. Therefore, any knowledge of technology that teenagers have today will give support to their own lives presently as well as in the future.
