In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Macbeth the main character victimizes many innocents. In this play Macbeth victimizes Duncan, Banquo, Macduff s family. However more than a victimizer, Macbeth is a victim. The three witches, Lady Macbeth, and Macbeth s own ambition victimize Macbeth.

Macbeth is victimized by the three witches. At first three witches tell Macbeth the prophecy, All hail, Macbeth! Thane of Cowdor , which later this is the title that Macbeth is pronounced to. However it is not this prophecy that trouble Macbeth s mind, it is; All hail, Macbeth! That shalt be king hereafter . The quote provokes Macbeth s dark hidden thought; Macbeth s ambition to be king. But Macbeth never realizes that the witches tongues are full of twisted and lies. The witches leave some part of the truth out. And after Macbeth committed his terrible crime, and it is come back to haunt him. Macbeth seeks for more witches prediction. They tell Macbeth that none of women born shall harm Macbeth but they leave the part that the one who born out of Cesarean section will. They make Macbeth believes that he is invincible which in fact Macbeth is not. They also tell Macbeth Macbeth shall never vanquished be until, Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill. They make Macbeth believes that no harm shall come to him until the wood move, which seems impossible. But the witches leave the part that the English Army will cut down the wood and use it as a disguise.

Macbeth is not just a victim of the witches. Macbeth is a victim of Lady Macbeth, his own wife. In fact Lady Macbeth is the greatest victimizer in this particular play. Soon after she received the first letter from Macbeth about the witches, she has a soliloquy. And in that soliloquy it reveals opinion of Lady Macbeth toward her husband. She says that Macbeth has ambition but lack of ruthless and Macbeth is too kind and has a strong sense of moral. So she decides that she will have to do something to make her husband act. Lady Macbeth victimizes her husband to force him to commit a murder. She forces Macbeth into act with foul words. Lady Macbeth victimizes Macbeth with her tongue.

The witches and Lady Macbeth are two main outside victimizers of Macbeth. However Macbeth is also victimized from inside by his dark thought and ambition. According to Macbeth soliloquy, it shows that the only reason Macbeth has to commit the murder is only for self-benefit. It is only for Macbeth s desire to be a king. Macbeth has a conflict within himself between the strong morals, which always have been his dominant side, and the ambition. With the aid from the outside (witches and Lady Macbeth) the ambition win and victimizes Macbeth good side. At first these thoughts sicken and Macbeth feels the guilt. But after that all the good side leaves Macbeth so leads he becomes a tyrant and causes his own downfall.

In the play the three witches, Lady Macbeth, and Macbeth s own ambition victimize Macbeth. After all the victimizing he received throughout the play Macbeth can be consider as the worst victim on the play. Everything that he wanted become thing that he wishes to take back. He looses everything he used to have; his happy life, his relationship with his wife, and even his own self.
