Tom Sawyer is a young boy who lives in a small town on the Mississippi River.
He lives with his Aunt Polly, his half brother Sid, and his cousin Mary. He is a mischievous
and adventurous boy. He has a friend named Huck Finn. Him and Tom have many adventures.

Tom and Huck are always up to trouble. When Huck tells Tom to meet at the cemetery at midnight the climax of the story begins. They were there to try out a spell
with a dead cat to cure a wart on Tom. Instead at midnight in the cemetery they witness a murder. Injun Joe, a criminal, killed Dr. Robinson, over an argument. Muff Potter another man with Injun Joe was knocked unconscious during the fight and was blamed when he woke up by Injun Joe. Tom and Huck swore to never tell anyone of this night.

Tom and Huck have many other adventures throughout the book. They run with Joe Harper away for a few days and become pirates on Jackson's Island but then return during their own funeral. Throughout the book they search for a hidden treasure which Injun Joe finds and hides in McDougal's Cave. Tom also falls in love with Becky Thatcher. Tom skips school, plays many tricks and gets in to "battles" with his rival Joe Harper.

The trial for the murder of Dr.Robinson was held. Tom showed up and was called as a witness. He told what he saw but Injun Joe managed to escape.

All the children in the town had a picnic in McDougal's Cave. Tom and Becky went on there own way through the cave. They got lost for three days. While in the cave they saw Injun Joe. They escaped Tom and Huck went back in the cave and found the treasure Injun Joe had hid in the cave. Then the towns people sealed off tthe cave so no one would get lost. Injun Joe died of starvation. Tom and Huck went back in to the cave to reclaim the treasure.Tom and Huck were rich with 12,000 dollars worth of treasure. Since Huck's father was a drunk, Huck was taken in by Widow Douglas who will educate him, and teach him habits of good living.
