Do you remember reading To Kill a Mockingbird? I think that this is a novel that I won't ever forget.
I will start out this responce by telling you about my favorite character, which is Scout. She is a tomboy, which not everyone likes, especially Mrs. Dubose. Scout likes to hang aroud with Jem, and most of the time he lets her.
Scout reminds me of a person I know of whom is a boy. He acts all big and bad and you wouldn't dare mess with him, but there is a soft spot where he is human, makes mistakes, and can actually feel bad for something. Even though this book hasn't revealed this "soft spot" in Scout I still think she has one. I also think she is human just like the rest of us.
At first when I was introduced to Mrs. Dubose because it seemed that she hated all aspects of life, especially Atticus. He was very brave to be defending that black man, and not give in to the town.
I also like Jem. If I was him I think that I would have cut all of the flowers off of Mrs. Dubose's bushes. She is an adult and I don't think that she should have said that Atticus was a n****r lover.
He did go and hold his head high and read to her, to please Atticus, but he finally found out why it was good to leave her alone. Like Atticus said, she was sick.
Who in the world was that guy that was with Mrs. Dubose anyway? I think her name was Jessie. What was her significance in the story anyway?
This book was excellent. It kept me on the edge of my seat which I like. I can't wait to get back to reading it.
