According to a legend, in 1742, Hugo Baskerville, a heard-hearted man, caused the curse of the Baskerville family. In fact, he kidnapped a lovely girl and locked her up in his manor. However she managed to escape and ran across the moor. Hugo was so furious that he tracked her down, followed by some of his guests. Some time later, Hugo s friends found the body of the girl, and next to her, a huge frightening hound was tearing up Hugo s body.

160 years later, the curse continued to plague the family. Indeed, Charles Baskerville was found dead one night as he was walking down an alley on his estate, and the footprint of an enormous dog could be seen on the ground.

Doctor Mortimer, the doctor and a friend of the dead man, was worried about another relative of Sir Charles s, who was due to arrive from Canada. That s why he decided to ask the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, to solve the mystery.

Sherlock Holmes advised Sir Henry Baskerville to go to his manor in Devon with Dr Mortimer. He also asked his assistant, Watson, to accompany them in order to look after Sir Henry and to send him reports about the people living in the area : Mr and Mrs Barrymore, Mr Stapleton, Mr Frankland, Laura Lyons
