The novel Of Mice And Men by Steinbeck is a great work of literature .

Every work of literature has one theme or more that the author desires to

conduct to his audience . Friendship is one of these themes that is found in Of

Mice And Men .

Even though there are other examples of friendship in this novel , for

instance Candy and his dog , there is none better than the relationship between

George and Lennie . At the beginning of the novel we already see how George

looks out for Lennie . In the first conversation between George and Lennie ,

George is warning Lennie not to drink from the pool of water because he does

not want him to get sick , as he did last time he drank fom a pool . There are

many other examples of George looking out for Lennie from what is to occur to

him next . Even although the shooting of Lennie can be an arguable issue ,

George did it with the right intentions . George knew that Curly would kill Lennie

if he found him . He also knew that Lennie deserved to be punished for killing

Curleys wife . To make Lennies death as painless as possible George tells him a

story about rabbits because George knew that it always made him happy .

Because of this when Lennie is shot he does not feel anything .

I feel that the one of the most important parts in a friendship is the ability

to make up after a fight . If George and Lennie had not past there fights then

they would have surely lost each other forever . There we probably other fights

too that led up to Georges' outburst but everybody gets into fights but only the

best frienships ever get through them . Frienship is needed throughout life to

bring people happines . George and Lennie had a great friendship which was

shown from beginning to end in this novel .
