The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
This book was 295 pages long and was written by the famous author, Mark Twain. It took place in the 1700's-1800's when slaves were not outlawed yet. Huck Finn is the main character in this novel. In the beginning of the story he lived with a widow. She was a nice lady that took Huck in because Huck's father was a drunk and often in jail. His father forced him to live with him in his cabin across the river. Huck was treated very badly and he got tired of it. A few days after Huck went to his pa's house he escaped and started down the Mississippi River. He met up with a slave named Jim and that is how their adventures began. Huck Finn is a character that takes into consideration what is going on around him. He comes up with great plans to avoid even worse situations that he is already in. One example of this is when he set up a scene at his pa's cabin that made it look as if he was murdered. This scene made it so that his father wouldn't come after him. Huck's companion, Jim was a character that knew a lot about life, but he didn't know how to read or write. Huck and Jim were two very brave characters that traveled down the Mississippi. They ran into a lot of problems because Jim was black and people suspected him to be a slave. However, Huck never gave. He continued his journey to free Jim.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure stories!
