How Could I Prevent the Holocaust
The word Holocaust means a conflagargration, a great raging fire that consumes
it s path all that lives (Kimel, 1 ed.). This describes the Holocaust perfectly. It was a fire
created by the German Nazis that destroyed all Jews and other minorities. The Holocaust
stands alone as the only systematic and organized effort by a modern government to
destroy a whole race of people (Kimel, 1 ed.). Six million Jews died in the Holocaust, this
is six million lives ruined. The Holocaust is not comprehensible to many people, including
me. I can t image this horrible of a thing happening, but it did. The Holocaust had many
causes including the Treaty of Verilles, hatred, and Hitler. Hitler was the main cause of
this horrible tragedy. I can help prevent a event like the Holocaust by the world helping
prevent it, teaching and remembering the Holocaust, and getting across the message that
every one should be treated equal. The Holocaust should have been prevented, starting
right in Germany.
The Holocaust could have been prevented, and should have been prevented by
every country in the world. The Holocaust with its unbelievable cruelty, was litmus test of
this civilization, and it indicates its failure (Kimel, 1 civ.). I don t care weather they are
allies or axis, the Holocaust was wrong and all the countries should of saw this, starting
with Germany. The Nazis in Germany were for the Holocaust, but Germany wasn t made
up of all Nazis. There were people just like the Jews that should have done something to
stop the Holocaust when it was just beginning. At the beginning of the Holocaust when
the Jews were getting there store windows broken, many Germans sat there and watched
(Rossel, 25). The German citizens could have done something to stop this horrible act
right at the beginning. Despite the harsh treatment of the Jews, little Germans opposed this
treatment (Kimel, 1 civ.). I am sure there were many Germans who opposed this hatred,
and could have done something to stop it, but nothing. But they weren t alone as the
whole world turned there backs on the horrible act. At of all the countries in the world,
not a one tried to stop the Holocaust. It is true that Hitler and Nazism bear the major
responsibility for this tragedy, but Hitler could not have achieved his goal without the
active help of the host nations and tacit help from the whole world (Kimel, 1 civ.). The
Holocaust happened in a silent and void world. No voices of protest were heard, no rescue
efforts were made (Kimel, 2 civ.). Many bystander nation eagerly participated in
plundering the Jewish properties (Kimel, 2 civ.). The Germans aren t the only one
reasonable for the Holocaust, the whole world is responsible. When the news of the
Holocaust reached the allies, they all refused and put down any rescue plans to aid the
Jews (Kimel, 2 civ.). Not one of the countries did anything to prevent the execution of six
million Jews, that just sickens me. The Allied leadership was afraid to convert the W.W.II
into a war to save the Jews, afraid of being flooded with Jewish refugees, made no effort
to stop the slaughter (Kimel, 2 civ.). I just can t believe that the Allies wouldn t help, they
could have saved so many lives. This should show all countries that they should help. All
these countries could have very well prevented the Holocaust. This one way I could have
helped prevent the Holocaust is getting the country that I am in, to try to fight.
There are many ways to prevent something like the Holocaust or the Holocaust
itself, but I think one of the best ways is by teaching and remembering. Teaching is a
solution to many problems, and is a great solution to this problem. Teaching the world
that hatred is wrong is the best way. If the world knew about how bad something like the
Holocaust would be they would never let it happen. If the whole country remembers about
the Holocaust it will never occur again. The Holocaust survivors should also remember
and share their experiences. Teaching everyone about how everyone is human, and no one
should be treated as bad as the Jews were treated. If they saw the pictures of how horrible
the death camp were, and how horrible the Jews were treated. The reason is the religion,
no one should die because of their religion, it just isn t right. That would be the best way
to prevent something like the Holocaust happening again, in the manner of teaching and
remembering. Now as to preventing the Holocaust itself by teaching, is a whole different
story, because there are no pictures or stories. Teaching the world that all religions should
not want to kill each other because of their religion. Explain that no matter what religion
or anything someone is they are still human and have a right to live and be treated equally.
The most important thing that could have prevented the Holocaust and anything
like the Holocaust is everyone being treated equally. Treating people equally may have
stopped there being any wars at all. There would be no slaves, there would be no
prejudice, there would be no Holocaust. If you ask me treating everyone equally would be
a step toward solving all the problems in the world. There would be no hatred, there
would be no racism, there would be no war, and there would be nothing like the
Holocaust. If everyone was treated equal no matter their race, religion, hair color, eye
color, or any little thing about a person it would prevent any thing like the Holocaust from
happening. One of the main reasons that the Holocaust happened was because of hatred
toward the Jews by the Nazis. If everyone was treated equal there would have been no
hatred there. This is a very hard task, but if ever accomplished it will solve all problems,
including anything like the Holocaust.
In conclusion, I can help prevent a event like the Holocaust by the world helping
prevent it, teaching and remembering the Holocaust, and getting across the message that
everyone should be treated equally. There were many causes of the Holocaust, and some
were unpreventable. At the top of the list is Hitler. He was crazy and had a lot of people
on his side. No matter how anyone looks at the Holocaust, it is the worst thing that I have
ever seen. I never realized how many people actually died. I will never forget the
Holocaust, and by learning about the Holocaust and understanding I have done my part to
prevent anything like the Holocaust from ever happening again.
