The U.S. plays a major role in most of the international affairs because the U.S. is considered to be a powerful nation. The Economy of America is strong, and the military power is one of the biggest in the world. There was a Persian Gulf War back in 1991 when the U.S. attacked Iraq. Sadam Hussein, the President of Iraq, was trying to capture Kuwait. Kuwait is considered as a very small country, but it is one of the richest countries in the world because it has a major oil supply. If America had not interfered, then Sadam would have been a second Hitler because his intention was to capture more and more countries in the Middle East and get a hold of oil. Also with his Chemical and Nuclear weapons, he was a major threat in the world. So, America did the right thing in defeating Sadam Hussein. Another international affair America involved in is the Asian Economy. Asian countries like Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Singapore are suffering a major financial crisis. Also other countries in South America like Argentina and Brazil are also having economic problems. U.S. is trying to help these countries by lending money from the international monetary fund (IMF). If the U.S. does not do this then the other countries will not be able to buy any of the U.S. products. They will not be able to produce anything in their country. That will adversely affect the U.S. economy. So the U.S. is trying to help these countries as much as possible so they can come up and the whole economy starts rolling.
In conclusion, the U.S, being a super power, is trying to keep the balance in the world. If they do not involve in these international affairs, then there will be nuclear weapons and economic crisis's everywhere. That can lead to the threat of a nuclear war.
