Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, at Shadwell inAlbemarle County, Virginia. His dad was a plantation owner that grewtobacco, and his mom belonged to the Randolph family they were rich. Fromhis dad and from his soroundings he had a big intrest in botany, geology,cartography, and North American exploreation, and he liked Greek and Latin.He was also a musition that liked music and liked to play music. ThomasJefferson liked to play the violin. His religion was Unitarian. As a student atthe Colledge of William and Mary in the early 1760's he studied underwilliam small, who knew a depth in Scottish stuff, with Thomas Jefferson'sbig intrest in law, history, philosophy, and science. Thomas Jefferson was addmitted tothe bar in 1767 and first elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1769.One of the things he liked the most during the his late 20's was the designand building of his house, Monticello. He didn't really think about marridge until 1770, then he foundMartha Wayles Skelton. When they met he was 27 and she was only 23.Then they got married in 1772. Then they had several kids but not all of them lived. There was Martha(1772-1836), Jane (1774-1775), Their infant son (1777), Mary (1778-1804),Lucy (1780-1781), and another Lucy (1782-1785). The Declaration of Independence was also made by Thomas Jeffersonon June 1776 that was when Thomas Jefferson Was 33 years old. ThomasJefferson, Ben Franklin, John Adams, Robert Liveingstone, and RodgerSherman were the people piked to make the Declaration of Independence. As secretary of state in George Washington's first administration,from 1790 to 1793, Thomas Jefferson then became a member of Congress in
1783 to make trade agreements with Europe counties and, to face the Britishrestrictions on American buying and selling of goods, to deney this to theBritish. Then his hopes for at least being an evenhanded American came toBritain and France dissapeared when the French envoy happend. Then Thomas Jefferson's wife died, but before she died he told her thathe would never mary again. She died in 1782 then she was 33 years old.Then Thomas Jefferson became a delegate to congrass. After his wife wasdeid he burnt all of the letters that they had ever wrote to each other.Afterwards Thomas Jefferson wrote a report that talked about why he wasacting so strang lately in 1784, 1785, and 1787.In the election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr got thesame number of votes, so it was a tie, but after 36 more votes ThomasJefferson was elected. He was our third President of the United States.WhileThomas Jefferson was the President of the United States in his first term oneof the things he was known for was the land bought in 1803. This wasknown as the Louisiana purchase for 15 million dollars. This land wasbought from the French. Then Thomas Jefferson was the President until1809.Then after leaveing office in 1809 he retired to Monticello. Then lateron he decided to let some of his slaves go if he thought they could be a goodcraftsman or somethig else. He lived at Monticello until he died on July 4,1826. Thomas Jefferson had just died a few hours before John Adams died.So Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both died on the 50th aniversiry of theDeclaration of Independence. Then they were trying to preserve ThmasJefferson's house for his dauters instead of his creditors because he was wayin dept.
