As I walk through the Paradiso arch everyday on my way in to school only to notice the students that attend my school. Everyday I realize that our school is divided into many different cliques in other words groups. From the 1,800 students that attend our school many are involved in a variety of activities that our school has to offer but when everything comes down to the nitty-gritty of things people tend to form groups. As I walk around our campus I tend to notice that there are about three segregated groups at our school. From the jocks to the preps and those weird ones everyone calls the freaks. Each person fits perfectly into one of these focused groups. All though a person in one group can be a part of another in the end it all narrows down to them mostly belonging to one group. I my self would be a prep at our school. The typical jock at Osceola- tall, muscular, good looking for the most part and mentally challenged when it comes to grades. All they concentrate on is the particular sport there good at. All jocks think about is sports and what girl can they date next. Because I am a female I will also recognize that many of our jocks consist of the better sexes the females. Not only has our boys been on to states and in the newspapers but also many of our girls. Jocks at our school are praised as if they are the gods of the world. Anything they want is there s. This group is one of the more popular groups when it comes to socializing and also dates. From winning different sports events to being on TV for fame. Jocks rule the school. From the newest makeup product on the market to the most fashionable wardrobe they can find. The preps- the ones at our school with the latest fashion trends and oh so perfect hair and makeup. I can t say that s all preps are made out to be because the preps at our school are the opposite of jocks. Preps are the I want to be in every club possible and help the community out as much as I can. They are the jocks only in the smart way. Instead of football trophy s preps are filling out for outstanding student awards and running for officers of the clubs. These people in are school are the happy go lucky always trying to help others and going the extra mile. Preps may always be in with the fashion but they are always trying to give a helping hand to someone in need. Many believe preps are snobs only trying to be popular and pretty but what people don t seem to realize is that preps are our mentors and that shoulder one needs to cry on. I myself would be considered as one of the many preps at our school. Preps the trendsetters and ego getters. The freaks as anyone might say. People that have ten piercing and hot pink hair with spikes to the gothic death black clothes and makeup on their face. Many think that this kind of person is one to get his or her own attention cause there s not enough at home, many also believe that most freaks are part of a cult. The freaks always dress in black and every time you walk around one you feel as if you are in the purgatory. Freaks consider themselves as unique individuals only trying to show the real side of their personality. The bottom line is freaks want to be different from everyone else. Many of them are part of the drama department showing off there inner self on stage. In particular I was told one guy at our school decorated his face with make up everyday and each day represented a different character of some story. Freaks may be different from everyone else but I always have to wonder if maybe we are the freaks and they are the normal ones. Freaks the ones who show there true side of things. St. Pius X High School has many different groups of people. Some being part of more than one group and then some whom just stay loners. But in the end our school is divided into three main categories, the jock with all the sports trophies, the preps with an infinite number of hands to pass out for help and then the freaks the ones that bring about death to our school. Each group is different in its own way but the people inside are still the same. I am a prep but yet a debater. I strive to help others and I am a trendsetter so in the end I am categorized as a prep. Where do you belong? Are you the running everyday and training hard jock, or maybe your the always helping others and making the mall your second home prep, or just maybe your the dress in black and be gothic but show your inner self freak. Think about it.
