I think that the role of an educated person is not only to excel in whatever it is they do but to be a good role-model to everyone. Even when we don't know it, people look up to us and it is our job not to show them how they shouldn't act but how they should. This can be done by doing the little things, such as acknowledging the little people (kids and such) and doing things to help your community. By doing the little things the young people of the world will see this and know that it's the right thing to do when they become successful. In turn making cleaner and safer communities. The possibilities of a community that is absolutely safe may not be possible but when one person makes any kind of change in a community that's a start.
Another role of an educated person is to help children in need of help. My family has always told me " If you forget where you've been, then you'll never know where your going." This means that, someone has helped you in some way to get you to where you are and now your job is to help others in the same way. This can serve as an inspiration to kids that felt they would never make it to college. They would be more determined to work harder in school because they have the reassurance that the education that they are working so hard for will be what actually gets them to college.
Education has always been presented to me as gift. Its one of those gifts that no one can take away from you and the only one that can spoil it is ones-self. One could be the greatest athlete around but, if one day they couldn't be that athlete, then, the one thing that they would hopefully have to fall back on is their education. This is why education has always been important to me and continuing it is my dream.
