THE ODYSSEY

The Odyssey, directed by Andrei Konchalovsky was a very interesting and nail-biting movie. Although it was not totally accurate to Homer's version, it was still an excellent movie. This is a great movie because the adventurous plot and the superb acting.

In the version that Homer wrote, at the end of the book Penelope was not to sure if it was Odysseus but in the new version, she runs right up to him and gives him a hug.

Throughout the whole movie Odysseus has many horrifying adventures. Throughout the whole movie he is in danger, by either a shipwreck or man-eating animals.

The characters in this movie all fit the description of the character perfectly. The costumes in this movie were very well made and looked almost as if they were in Greece. Odysseus, Penelope, Telmechus and Athena were all played by good actors and actresses. Odysseus was acted by Armand Assante. Penelope was acted by Gretta Scacchi. Telemechus was acted by Alan Stenson and Athena was acted by Isabella Rosellini. Isabella fits the description well because she is very beautiful and looks like a goddess. Odysseus fits his description because he looks like a fearless-war hero with a lot of strength and courage.

The special effects in this movie were really great. All of the monsters and the sea creatures looked so realistic. The setting in this movie also looked so real, almost as if they were really in Greece.

I think that this was a very well made story that was turned into a very well made movie. I highly recommend this movie to anybody that likes movies with a lot of actions and adventures. I give this movie two thumbs up.
