How are things in the US? I am doing great here in Switzerland on my professional ski tour. Its always exciting visiting new places and people, but its probably normal for you Mr. President. Well, anyway, I was thinking back to the period of the US History class when we studied Ronald Reagan and the Eighties. Your presidency sure does remind me a lot of him.
Many people say that Ronald Reagan s terms as president are indicative of what the eighties were like. This is probably true because it has also been said that no other single president effected life in America as much as President Reagan. The perceptions of Ronald Reagan as a political figure and a foreign policy maker are numerous. He was seen by some, as an ideological cold warrior , by others as a saviour, the man who won the cold war without firing a shot. He was a passionate conservative, blunt and direct in his political speeches, and more often than not, took to applying anti-Soviet expression to an unheard-of degree. Ronald Reagan s dedication to freedom, and his apathy for communism was continuously reflected by his actions and his addresses to Congress and the American public. He was, in short, a hard-liner on communism, intent to leave
Marxism-Leninism on the ash-heap of history.
