Brook Farm
As capitalism became a big part of life one may think of leaving it and living at Brook Farm. Brook Farm is a type of communal living cooperative based on Fourier. Capitalism in the mid-19th century inspired some business owners to make the workers work 19 hour days.
The Brook Farm communal living place was based on Fourier s ideas. Fourier had socialist ideas as many did in the 19th century. He believed in concerns for inequalities, fairness, how we had l attraction passionnelie, and should live in phalanges. These places favored workers and had 8 different jobs a day.
The people at Brook Farm are mostly educated. One notable guest is Nathaniel Hawthorn. We have a school that has guest speakers that come and everyone puts in a good equal amount of work. We thank George Ripply for starting this commune outside of Rocksburry Mass.
Some history on Brook Farm is interesting. Ripply founded the brook farm phalanx in 1841and it lasted to 1846. It was a Fourier type experiment. The population of 70-80 members was made up of thinkers/workers. All the people there wanted a simpler way of life. To get if running stock was sold for it.
In conclusion I would say Brook Farm is a nice place to stay. One would not have to deal with capitalism in here. The simpler way of life is nice. Being around very educated people like Nathaniel Hawthorn makes it nice.
