Community, Identity, and Stability. This motto seems to appropriately state the nature of the hatchery, as well as the nature of the world that Huxley creates. The center strives for community, identity, and stability as it literally creates the people of the world. The motto helps Huxley use setting in three different situations. When describing community, Huxley creates the Infant Nurseries and the Neo-Pavlovion Condition Rooms to show setting. Huxley uses the Decanting Room to symbolize the setting for the second part of the motto, identity. Finally the Fertilizing Room is an example of setting while describing stability.

Infant Nurseries and the Neo-Pavlovion Condition Rooms is where the conditioning process is demonstrated for the students. In clear sight in the room, there are bowls of roses and books with pictures of beasts, birds and other creatures. The babies are brought in and set before the objects as soon as the infants begin to respond with delight over what they see, a series of explosions and shocks are generated to frighten them. The very sight of the roses and picture books causes feelings of aversion and terror in the children. Therefore, the state believes the children will be safe "from books and botany all their lives." Huxley uses this scene to portray the motto of "community".

To support Huxley s motto of "identity", he uses the scene of brainwashing. He states how brains washing starts from the beginning, right at birth; using conditioning exercises and sleep teaching. The infants are soon made to accept who they are, what their future jobs will be, and they station in life. The government rationalizes the brainwashing by saying that it is trying to ensure order and "happiness" in the new world. "The problem, however, in the brave new world is that the conditioning is so complete and the pursuit of external happiness is so compulsive that it is enormously difficult for the individual to increase his awareness of himself as an individual" (Firchow 266). Students are taken to the Decanting Room where the babies are grown in the stores and "decanted" as socialized humans. Whether they are destined to be superior or inferior beings, they are already conditioned to welcome their future work environment. This is all ways Huxlet uses to describe the motto of "identity".

While visiting the Fertilizing Room in Huxley s, Brave New World, it shows how the ova are fertilized in test tubes to be grown into human beings. Because of scientific advancements, the kind of human beings created can be controlled. Depending on the society s needs, either superior humans or inferior humans. In the Boiling Room, it is explained that the eggs are removed from the test tubes and placed in bottles in an assembly line manner. The bottles are labeled and identified, revealing the heredity, date of fertilization, and Bokanovsky information. This is the final part to Huxley s motto in Brave New World.

After analyzing the motto, Community, Identity and Stability, the conclusion has been made that it suites the lifestyle of the world created in this book. Community s example is fond in the Infant Nurseries and the Neo-Pavlovion Condition Rooms. An example of setting in the Identity portion of the motto could be found in the Decanting Room or Boiling Room. Finally the setting which symbolizes Stability is found in the Fertilizing Room. Huxley s succeeds in developing is main theme; scientific advancement and it s impact on humanity, therefore the mottow "Community, Identity and Stability" suites the setting very well.
