Ribosomes play a very important role in our everyday life. If it wasn't for them your body wouldn't be able to function correctly. They make tears in your eyes, to keep your eyes moist. They grow hair for you, it also keeps an ample supply of saliva in your mouth, even though you are constantly swallowing. One of the most important thing it does is, it transfers protein in food, into your muscles to make muscle tissue. This process is called protein synthesis. During Protein Synthesidand one small ribosome come together. If it wasn't for these little things your body would eventually deteriaorate.
They are frequently found on the Endoplasmic Reticulum. Ribosomes are what gives the Endoplasmic Reticulum the roughness on the outside of it. Other Ribosomes are found floating freely in the cytoplasm and the others are found in the energy processing organelles.
Ribosomes are found in both Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Eukaryotic Ribosomes are larger than that of the prokaryotic Ribosomes. The prokaryotic Ribosomes can not be attached to the Endoplasmic Reticulum, because they do not have a cell wall, so it can not be attached. Because they aren't attached they are easier to examine under an electron microscope, which makes them better understood. While looking at the free floating Ribosomes we found out that they have no membranes. Later, we then found out that the attached ones don't have a membranbe either. Ribosomes are not made of DNA either, instead they are composed of RNA and pure protein.
We get most our protein from meat products, eggs, and nuts. Many people don't get enough intake of proteins, which doesnt allow their Ribosomes to work correctly. So they must take protein supplement pills, which increases their protein level.
This is what the Ribosomes inside of our body do for our body, and this shows why you should keep and ample amount of protein in your body or many things won't function correctly.
