Always True to the "Star-Spangled Banner"
The "Star-Spangled Banner" means a lot to the American people. It represents the hardships and victories that we as Americans have prevailed against. This song perfectly depicts the challenge of the American Revolution. This war was fought between Great Britain and the North American Colonies, it took place in the years 1775-1783, and is the reason why the North American Colonies won their Independence. I don't know one person that dislikes our nations song. It is a beautiful piece of work and it deserves respect from all. We as Americans should be proud of this wonderful song. Not one country has the privilege to sing this son but us the Americans. Every one should take advantage of this privilege without resent.
Debbie Sapp states in her student essay that "the average person cannot sing the star spangled banner." If this holds true, then why do millions of people unite their voices to sing the National Anthem before a sporting event? Any person can sing the National Anthem. It doesn't necessarily have to be perfectly in tune or to the beat. The ability of an American voice to sing is not important. What is important, and should be valued, is the feeling of inspiration that Americans get when they sing this song. We as Americans are free people, and we should also sing our National Anthem as freely as we can.
The "Star-Spangled Banner" is not at all offensive to anyone. What is sung in this song happened in the past and does not serve the purpose of offending any one nation. The diction is perfectly chosen, each word stresses much style and expression. The whole song is expressed with much emotion and enthusiasm. I must admit that there was a time when I didn't know the meaning of some of the words that the National Anthem contains. Even though this was true I still sang the song with great feeling of admiration and devotion. I'm pretty sure that I am not the only person that feels this way about our National Anthem. Americans will always stand behind their country while singing the "Star-Spangled Banner."
In conclusion, I can honestly say that I am proud to be an American, I am proud of our history, and therefore proud of our "Star-Spangled Banner." Our nation's history can never be altered or changed. What has happened in the past will never be forgotten. The Star-Spangled Banner symbolizes freedom, liberty, and bravery. Even though America is constantly going though various changes the "Star-Spangled Banner" will always be the perfect National Anthem. The importance and inspiration of our National Anthem is self evident. No song can unmask the true feeling and dreams of the American people like our National Anthem.
