As all societies grow and expand, the need to develop organized systems of government becomes a vital part of all cultures. Over the centuries, various methods of governmental organization have been developed and used as a means of meeting the needs of all societies. Totalitarianism is a form of such a system of government. Totalitarianism is having the power centered in one area, similar to a dictatorship. In a Totalitarianistic government, decisions are also made by that central power instead of being reviewed by several branches. Laws are made, interpreted, and enforced by the central power.

Democracy is a constitutional government. A presidential democracy consists of three branches of government. These branches are the Executive, the Judicial, and the legislative branches. They all function together under a system of checks and balances. The executive branch is put in place in order to enforce the laws. The executive branch consists of the president and his cabinet. The executive branch has the power to veto and appoint the Supreme Court justices. The Legislative branch consists of two parts, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. This is where new laws are made and passed and where constitutional amendments are made. The Legislative branch approves Supreme support justices and can over ride a presidential veto. The judicial branch consists of Supreme Court justices who interpret the laws of the country. The Judicial branch has the power of judicial review.

Totalitarianism is a much more efficient and simpler form of government. Having all the decisions made by one central power makes for very fast and efficient decisions. It is a very short process to pass a law that requires the approval of only one or two people. This is much faster as compared to other forms of government that must go through several processes before being put into effect. If a law needs to be passed to meet the changing needs of society, It can be done with relative ease. It is also a very simple form of government with many lines drawn in black and white. Those lines that are not drawn in black and white are decided rather quickly instead of going through several weeks, months, or even years of legal processes. Totalitarianism is clearly a simpler, faster, and more efficient form of government.
