In the novel Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck introduces us to two guys with very different personalities. Two men are traveling together with an American dream of buying a house ( on a farm). Lennie and George are "best friends" they go everywhere and do everything together. Lennie isn't very bright, he is very short tempered and doesn't understand things clearly. He kills his boss' daughters' in-law and George doesn't want Lennie to despair the concequence so George kills Lennie. In this essay I'm going to inform you of the rare relationship between Lennie and George. Their difference in looks, personalities and outlook on life will all be discussed. George and Lennie are two genuinely different people and their looks show it. George is a small man with sharp distinct features. He has a dark face and restless eyes (pp.1-2). Lennie on the other hand is very big. He has a shapeless face and huge hands, and he is very strong. George compares him to be as strong as a bull (pp.24-25). George takes Lennies' huge characteristics to benefit himself. Lennie and George shares some of the same traits but a personality trait is not one of them. Lennie is not very alert of what going on. He always relies on George to do most of his thinking. He has a gentle heart but does not comprehend when he is doing something wrong. George is always extremely cruel to Lennie he orders him around telling him when and when not to speak (p.15-16). George is cunning and thinks of lies and excuse to get himself out of binds (p.26). As you can see, Lennie is more level- headed unlike George who is always alert, and rude.

Your outlook on life is very important and impacts the way you live your life in a huge way. George looks at life and laughs, and he expects everyone to do everything for him (p.26). He hopes that one day he will have a house of his own but does not anticipate it any time soon. Lennie certainly believes George and he will have a house on a farm with tending rabbits and all. He takes the future as if it were today and Lennie is always up for an astonishing adventure. George and Lennie wanted to get their own place working at the ranch they were saving enough money to do just that; when Lennie killed Curley's wife George had to kill Lennie. George always ordered Lennie around, though they were best friends George did not treat Lennie that way. I feel George took expedient of Lennie, even though Lennie was not very smart George shouldn't have taken advantage of that. I think George would have ended up killing Lennie after they had enough money to buy a house. I enjoyed the book but felt appalling for Lennie.
