Abstract –

Obtaining practice in calibrating a commercial coil meter and the controls of a digital multimeter were investigated. Other general techniques were learned in order to be used in future laboratory work.

I. Introduction

The purpose of this experiment is to investigate several different instruments based on the common panel meter. We used a digital multimeter, a circuit board, a DC power supply, and a commercial coil meter reading a scale of 1mA. We used the coil meter to convert it into a device that could measure voltage, current, or resistance. WE explored how the meter circuit interacts with the circuit it was measuring and how this interaction affected the results of the experiment.

II. Experimental Results

A. The Meter

In this experiment, we mounted a commercial 1mA meter to a power supply and a digital multimeter. Once it was calibrated, it was connected to a circuit board to test its precision and accuracy of its readings.
