Essay, Research Paper: Abortion: Pro-Choice

An abortion is a medical procedure that should be offered in every Hospital.
I myself am pro-choice, there are several reasons that contribute to that and those will be discussed in this essay. My first reason, is that it is the woman’s body, and she can do with it what she pleases. In 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled that as long as the baby is in the womb, he or she would be the property of the mother. Due to this, almost every third baby in the nation is killed by abortion. However, I still feel that it is the right of the mother to make that decision. I believe that if the mother believes that it is in her best interest and the best interest of the child, then an abortion should be preformed.
I also believe that in cases of rape and incest, an abortion should most definitely be preformed. To bring a child into the world, who is most likely going to be mentally retarded, is just wrong. I think that people who have sex, and are related need to be thrown in jail. Especially, if they have the baby, that is just sick. Rape, is another automatic abortion, I think that to make the female carry this child around inside of her for 9 months is just unrelenting. Everday she would think of that terrible night, when sex was forced on her. That night that she was assaulted, punched, strangled, and spit on. The night she was torn apart, for the inside out. I don’t know about you, but I would not want that for my mother, possible daughter, or even a close female friend.
If by chance, the impregnation was an accident, and the mother would have great trouble providing for the child, then an abortion could, and should be considered. In this situation, I would put the child up for adoption. However, if the mother would have great difficulty providing for the child while the child is in the womb, then that is a different story. If she is going to go into great debt with all of the prenatal care, and doctor visits, then I think it is not worth putting out two people.
Most pro-life supporters say that the fetus is a person too, and that having an abortion is murder, and you should go to jail. They believe that from the moment the baby is conceived that he or she is a living, breathing human being, and that they have the same status on this earth as a man walking around outside. That is their main argument for why not to have an abortion. I would like to see what a pro-life supporter does when she is raped. I am very curious as to whether or not they would have an abortion. I think that they would crack and come to the pro-choice side. Most pro-lifers are very pro-life, until something happens to them and they need an abortion. So, until it happens to them and they don’t choose an abortion, then they need to keep there mouths shut.
I think that abortions should be allowed in hospitals. I think that if she wants an abortion, then she should be able to get it, at a local hospital. I believe that women should have a choice in what they want to do with their bodies. If she doesn’t want a child, she should have that choice.
